We are PK Vikings!

A Tooty Tah!

Tooty- Tah is a great dance that we do to help kids listen and follow directions. The song teaches us the dance by building a series of directions. For example, thumbs up, knees together, bottoms up...tongues out! A great and fun way to improve our PK skills for the classroom.

Tomorrow Night is Parent Night!

Don't Forget tomorrow night is Parent Night. We will begin our night in the theater with a few words from Mr. Vorenberg and Mr. Mackenzie at 7pm. Then we will continue our evening in the Lower School Library. Pictures from today's class will be posted tomorrow or in a slide show later this week. Check out the 'Ask me about' questions and stay tuned...

Happy Birthday Mrs. HIldahl!

Today was Mrs. Hildahl's birthday and we had a special birthday treat. Also today, we opened the playhouse as a school house. The dramatic play area is full of things to play school with, chalkboard slates, workbooks, stickers and even an apple for the teacher. What fun!
PreK bees also enjoyed the writing center today. Some students began their PK storybooks where they were able to write sticker stories about dragons, fairies, and pirates.

We are PK Vikings!

Today we read the story of a little mouse who went to school with an unusual name, Chrysanthemum, and introduced ourselves to each other with a name game. We also wrote our names in our name books for the first time and learned how to correctly hold a pencil using the 'Twist n Writes'. We graphed the number of letters in our name too and introduced the concept of graphing to show information.

Later we were able to wear a viking hat and talked about what being a Columbus Academy Viking is all about ( check out my picture in the slide show with the cool viking hat!) We also used foam letters to spell out our names on our own viking hats to decorate a classroom bulletin board. Whew! What a busy day!We are ready for the weekend!

Day Two and Counting...

It's Okay to be Different

Today we read Todd Parr's book, It's Okay to be Different, and talked about how each of us are all very different, but that is what makes us special and a community. After wards students then were asked to glue together and decorate a bumblebee to put up on our bulletin board. Some of our bees were pink and purple. Others were green, in fact none of our bees were yellow and only a few have stripes because it's okay to be different. Another great day in Pre-K. Be sure to check out the 'Ask me about section to hear about the rest of my day.

First Day of School

Happy to "BEE" in Pre-K

Welcome to PreK B!
Class of 2024

Students were introduced to Pre-K bell and even received a note complimenting them on a great first day. Today students reported to their teachers she has a secret door from which she can come in and out of the building to spot us doing great things outside on the playground. LOVE the Pre-K imagination!

We also talked about the Star Box, a treasure box where students who are caught "Bee-ing" polite and kind are rewarded. Please check out the 'Ask me About' section to the right of this page to find out more about my day. Stay tuned for more great pictures!

Who is PreK Bell?

Pre-K Bell is a little fairy that lives in our classroom! She is very good friends with Tinker Bell and even goes to visit Tinker Bell during the holidays! Pre-K Bell can only be seen by children. No adult has ever seen her, yet we know she exists! As part of our morning routine, the class wakes Pre-K Bell each morning by ringing a bell by the window of the little house she lives in located in our classroom. Once awake and out of her house, she may leave children special notes when she sees them do something extra-extraordinary! She even uses a special note pad that only Pre-K Bell has! It is very exciting when we find a Pre-K Bell note!
